Lloyd Cress

On March 1st, 2010 Kentucky Coal Association named Lloyd Cress as their general counsel. Mr. Cress is presently counsel in the Lexington office of Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP. He has practiced environmental law for more than 40 years with a large amount of that time in private practice.

His legal career includes service as general counsel for Kentucky’s environmental regulatory agencies and as principal environmental counsel for some of Kentucky’s largest corporations. Mr. Cress served as Environmental Director for the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and, during the Fletcher Administration; he was Commissioner of the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection and Deputy Secretary of the Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet.


Mr. Cress earned both his undergraduate and law degree at the University of Kentucky.
